Webkinz Next Guide
This is a guide to get started and answer some question you might have about Webkinz Next.
You can skip the next bit if you’re already playing.
There is also a Webkinz Next 101 on WN.
Getting Started
When you make your first account you should start by using the same name as a WW account if you want to send items to WW. As of now you can’t send items to Next. When you put in your account name the password will be the same as your WW one too. The first time you do this you will be taken to the welcome page.
Next you pick a pet to start with. This pet will be an adult and have one spark.
You will name your pet.
Then it will ask you to pick three words from three columns. It will use the first, and put the second and third together to make your in game account name. You will also get a number after your name. We'll show you where that is later.
You will be taken to your house and get to choose a room theme to start with.
This is how your screen is set up
The challenges show up as icons on the left side of your window. You can see the prizes for each challenge at the top of the pop up window. If you do the first group of “challenges” you can get enough money to start playing with.
There is a group of icons down on the lower right, just like in WW that will take you around Next, access the W shop
(plants are under food but can show up in your dock under food or decorations-I have no idea why).
Diamonds and W
When you log in each day there is a log in present. At the end of the week you get 5 diamonds. Diamonds are currency. W is also currency but like the W shop in WW. There are a lot of items you may only get with diamonds. Diamonds may also be purchased for cash if you click on the diamond icon at the top of the page where your total amount of diamonds is.
Advanced Editing
If you decide you want to place something in your rooms differently than the usual arrows allow, click on the upper right far icon (options button) and then choose advanced editing. Your current placements will not change by turning this on and off. Sometimes it makes planting harder if it’s on. When on, you can place items almost anywhere and in any way you want them. Pretty neat.

If you buy a Webkinz Next/WW plush pet now it has two codes, one for WW and one for Webkinz Next. You enter this code at the adoption center. In the adoption center there are three areas, the pets available for adoption with diamonds (150 each currently, but they did go on sale on Jan 1 for 100) at the left, the area to the back center for sparking new pets, and the baby showcase on the right.
This baby was sparked using a Husky and a Cow.
Sparking pets can be addictive (which they want as they sell more pets and diamonds). When you click on the center button it will bring up all the pets you currently have and how many sparks they have. You need two pets with at least one spark each to make a baby. It will then ask you if you want to spark a new pet. It costs 80 diamonds to spark a new pet. The pet on the left is often the type of pet the baby will be, but sometimes they switch so…A baby then needs to be grown into an adult.
When you take a baby home it will live in a crib. You can send it to daycare once each day by clicking on the paws icon at the lower right area of your screen, which pops up all your pets and statistics on them, and allows you to send your babies to daycare. Babies make growth requests. A green arrow shows up on screen to let you know how far along you are in growing your baby. Some are easier to do than others. A growth request only occurs once every 8 hrs. Clicking on the arrow will bring up all the things you can do for it, from a bottle to feed it (you must keep your mouse on the bottle as you feed your baby or it will go away, same with the other items) Getting them to sleep seems to be one of the harder things to do. Use the mobile to do this. Babies make hilarious faces, both in the game, and in the pet lineup.
You can take your baby for a walk using a stroller, and play in the baby playground in the town. You will be given a choice whether to let your baby grow into a toddler, then an adult. Your pet does not get sparks until it is an adult and you have answered one request from it. Then drag their box into your room to get their psi and sparks.
Another event that can occur is that a special pet pops up when you spark a baby and the game asks if you want to get this pet as a plushy too. You have 2 weeks to decide. Currently there is a pig, a retriever, and a panda in the special pets. These have more sequins and different patterns than the basic pet. WARNING, THESE PETS DO NOT HAVE SPARKS! Neither the one you would get in the game, nor the one you buy.
Gardening
You can only get one garden plot at the market in the town square as of now. This will show up when you visit the market the first time. The market only shows up on Tue, Thurs, and Sunday from 6am to 11pm KT. Harvested goods sell for better prices at the center stand than in the Wshop. At the sides are the bouncy house, the face painting (you sit in the chair to get the design, butterflies currently), the seed stand where you can buy 3 plants a market day, and a bakery stand. Plants not found in the W shop are at the seed stand, but also the ones from the Wshop at a lower price, and market stall only plant produce usually sells for more than the Wshop plants. Price varies when you go to sell. Clicking on the stand behind the pig will bring up what crops are being sold that day, and if you have any they will show up below. Click on the arrows above the crop pictures to sell yours. A total of 50 can be sold per day. Crops can be harvested 10 times and then they give you soil in your craft supplies area. Crops can be grown indoors or out. I have not gotten any competition crops from potted crops yet.
So far corn and cabbage are highest priced, then squash, watermelons, broccoli, and cucumbers are often at a good price to sell. Will update this as crops appear in the market to sell.
You can also get competition produce from your plants, but only when they are planted in the garden plot. These are only decorative. When you drag these into your rooms they sometimes grow in size. We don’t yet know what we will be able to use these for but giant produce can be fun.
Daily Activities
Harvest any crops. These will show up as produce in a box above the plant.
Go to the arcade. Spin the wheel of wow. Collect a free candy from the claw machine in the arcade.
If you feel like it click on Sparky and play his game. You’ll win 50 W if you beat his score.
Go to the curio shop and get your fortune told.
Go mining for gems. (for details see mining section)

Mining and Gems

Be careful if you go close to the Market or a building as it may take you in there and the balls won’t be there when you go back. If you need more of the item than you can find, go into some building and then go back to the outside town and there will be more. You may have to look around.
Gems can be used for The Crown of Wonder, you will trade one complete set of gems for the crown.
They
can also be used at the gem crafting table in the curio shop (see above
pic.) to craft different items. Even slag can be used to make three
different items currently. You may also sell your gems to Amanda Panda.

Friends
Making friend requests is easy. If you click on a pet near you a pop up will ask if you to add a friends. They can accept or not. The other way, and this is how you use the people with accounts you know, is to go to your friends list, cat button top right second in, click on it.
At the bottom of your new window (below)you want to click on the “friend finder” button and it will pop up a new page. The names highlighted in green are people currently playing that you can request to be friends with, or you can click the button at the middle bottom which pops up a place to type in the name of the person you want to be friends with. When you first made your account you chose three words to name it. Those are used to make your account name. Here you see my name at the top as Sky Blueglow 1. The number is important. When making a request this number is added beside the name you type. Yes, you can send me a fr to both of the accounts shown here (Sky Blueglow 1, and Splendor Brightdream 0. (Little Tunethought is not one of my accounts. Someone who is playing will show up on your screen. You can send them an fr if they aren't in your friends list.
Crafting Benches, Sewing Benches, Carpenter Benches
You have to buy these in the W store, or you can use one at someone else's house, but it will use your materials. You have crafting bags that you drag into your room and they open up with different groups of materials. There are also two crafting boxes, one from the weekly log in, and the daily one you can collect beside the curio shop. When you open the boxes the items will be scrolling by, click on the one you want to choose it. When you go to one of these benches in your room and click on it a menu with recipes to be made will show up. When you choose one you will see the ingredients needed to make this item. The star section is where your materials are in your dock.
Fantastic Flower and Fantastic Snowman
These are two events which occur at different seasons in the lower left open area on the town map.
Summer half of year has the flower, winter half has the Snowman. They show up every two hours KT, at 2,4,6,8,10,12 am and pm. There is a table that is labeled "Join here" and when you click on it you will have a window pop up asking if you would like to join.
There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, but also a participation prize every time you join in. You get your first backpack full of either water or snow, join the circle around the flower/snowball and start firing at it by left clicking and aiming with the use of the gold circle at the right.
If you get a "place" within the first couple of rounds you will usually be able to keep it. If not you usually don't gain one. You will run out of whatever supply your backpack is holding and need to go over to the barrels with water in them to fill up. Takes eleven clicks to fill up. Faster if you are in the green area when you click. Then go back and aim and throw water or snow again. Hit the snowflakes if on the snowman.
Note: These activities don't always work right. Sometimes your pet will run off the screen, sometimes a water barrel will be so busy fr requests keep popping up when you click on the water, and sometimes the join the event table pops up, and sometimes you just can't join. Just go with it and don't play if you get bothered too much.
Special Day Prizes
When a prize is given out on special days it will show up in your friend center and you will need to click on it to get it, then drag it into your pet’s room.
Seasonal Collection Events
For these you need to click on the item for that event, the big candy canes at Christmas, and your friends pop up. You scroll through these holding down your left mouse key and moving up and down. You usually only get to ask 4 friends a day for items so try to have people in your list you know will be on. There are people in WT that have a list going of the accounts and those they check and can send you things from. As of now there is no limit to how many items you can collect in a day so if more friends send you items one day they should show up.
Camera
Click on the camera icon at the upper right of your screen (see above screen map) and you will be able to move around and zoom into your pet and take some really fun shots, either using the camera (it will ask you where you want the pic to be saved) or taking a screen shot.
